On the second Saturday in May – Saturday, May 13th, 2017  the National Association of Letter Carriers in conjunction with the United States Postal Service and the National Rural Letter Carriers Association will deliver much more than mail when they walk and drive along their postal routes. They will also collect the goodness and compassion of their postal customers as they participate in the 25th annual NALC National Food Drive. The day of the Food Drive, carriers will be collecting canned goods and other non-perishable food items. These donations will then be delivered to the Food Bank of North Alabama, churches and other agencies. Citizens can help by placing their food donations in a plastic bag and attaching it to their mailbox early on Saturday, May 13th. Customers may also place their donations in the mailbox and raise the flag so your Letter Carrier can pick it up for delivery to the Food Bank. In the week before the Food Drive, Letter Carriers will be delivering flyers promoting the drive to residents of North Alabama.
